    1. At the beginning of any cystic acne treatment, when the lesions and bumps are at their nastiest outbreak, it can be quite tempting to try to get rid of them by squeezing. However, this can make the cyst permanently worse instead of becoming better and rather than speeding up the healing, it can make the infection continue for longer. No matter how badly you’re tempted, don’t squeeze.

    2. Squeezing of the lesions can also lead to an amplified risk of scarring. With any very severe acne, such as cystic acne, you will notice that there is always much risk of scarring. There’s a difference between the kind of spots you get with a less problematic acne than those that you get with cystic acne. With normal acne you may get pimples, or pustules, which can be popped when you know how to do it safely, but cystic acne treatment is different and the lesions should not be squeezed.

    3. Skin specialists can give treatment to reduce the size of the swellings in very severe cases of cystic-acne with cortisone injections.

    4. This type of acne treatment can be found either through a doctor who will prescribe medication, or at the pharmacist in over – the – counter cures. Benzoyl Peroxide is an anti-bacterial agent which is accessible as either a cream, gel or face / body wash.

    5. Salicyclic Acid is an additional ordinary treatment for cystic acne. It works by slowing down the shedding of cells within the hair follicles and so preventing the blockages which cause the acne. It is not advisable that an additional acne treatment is used at the exact same time as salicyclic acid as this may lead to the skin starting to become irritated and red with sensitivity.

    6. Neosporin is an anti – inflammatory treatment which can take a bit of the redness out of the bumps, and added supplements of zinc, an antioxidant, will help to regulate any overproduction of oil in the skin.
